Testing new beauty products and getting to write my honest opinion about them has to be one of my favourite things about my job. I have sensitive skin, so the trial-and-error process can become a minefield at times, but when something actually works for my complexion without irritating it, it’s a huge win. Over time, this led me to acquire certain skincare habits, which I eventually fully incorporated into my skincare routine.
Granted, some days are not for standing in front of the mirror applying product after product for hours on end. However, this routine using two of my new favourite beauty gadgets is so simple that it’s hard to say no to a little radiance boost.
Red light therapy (RLT) has been all the rage for a few years now, and it seems to be going nowhere, and it’s not hard to see why.
This non-invasive treatment uses something called photobiomodulation, a non-invasive treatment that uses low-wavelength red light to stimulate various biological processes in the body.
Research shows that RLT may stimulate collagen production, which improves the skin’s tone and texture while also promoting healing.
As such, red light therapy devices are often credited with tightening the skin, promoting that much-desired glow, helping improve the appearance of scars, and even reducing inflammation.
After trying two different types of devices, the changes in my complexion have been noticeable despite my initial scepticism.
It now looks much more glowy and firm, and on days when my skin is more inflamed or looking lacklustre, just 10 minutes of RLT can work wonders.
The mask I tried from BON CHARGE retails for just £275 and is easy to use. It works its magic in as little as 10 minutes.
Unlike many other skincare gadgets, it requires no physical movement, so it’s ideal for just kicking back and relaxing when needed.
This device specifically works to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and promote a more even skin tone.
The other tool I own is NIRA’s Pro Laser. While it is pricier—at a cool £569—this compact little wand is as travel-friendly as they come.
Due to its design, it’s made to target specific areas with localised issues ranging from wrinkles to acne or scars. However, it has a large enough tip to target the full face, neck, chest, and back of hands if needed. This product has a treatment time of just three minutes a day, so for me, it’s become a non-negotiable even on the busiest of days.
There are RLT devices for pretty much anything and anyone, ranging from large panels for full-body applications to blankets targeted at surface coverage.
