Max Verstappen joked that he has devised a plan to avoid a swearing fine this season.
The Red Bull star was embroiled in swear-gate last season, receiving a fine and having to undergo community service for swearing in a press conference.
FIA chiefs are determined to clamp down on bad language around race weekends.
Verstappen has quipped that he could begin swearing in Dutch or even Limburgish – his local dialect.
“Maybe I should just start swearing in Dutch and not in English,” he said.
“Or in Limburgish, that’s even better. Of course, I’m just not going to say now what a swear word is in Limburgish!”
Speaking more seriously on the subject, Verstappen added: “I’m not going to say too much anymore, that’s for sure. It does go beyond that [swearing].
“You also have to be careful about giving your opinion, because that can be taken as offensive.
“What’s in the rules now, for example the amounts of fines and further penalties, that’s pretty abnormal. I think most drivers agree.”
