British Gas will host its third Green Flex event of the year tomorrow, offering customers half-price electricity between 12.30pm and 2.30pm on April 4. This initiative is part of the energy giant’s ongoing effort to encourage more sustainable energy usage.
Through the PeakSave Green Flex events, British Gas allows customers to reduce their energy bills by using electricity when renewable energy generation is high, such as on windy or sunny days. These events are announced in advance, with customers receiving an email notification detailing the time slot.
Green Flex events come in addition to British Gas’ usual PeakSave Sunday scheme, which offers half-price electricity on Sundays between 11am and 4pm.
This allows thousands of customers to save on household activities like washing clothes, cooking, or catching up on television during the discounted window.
British Gas schedules these events using its own forecasting models, aiming to balance energy consumption with grid demand while testing potential savings.
Customers participating in the scheme will see the discount applied as a credit on their energy bills.
How to get involved
Households must be British Gas customers with a smart electricity meter to benefit from the half-price savings. Customers must also register for the PeakSave scheme to take part.
New customers can book a free smart meter with half-hourly data and join the scheme here.
The Green Flex events are open to both new and existing PeakSave customers.
Since its launch, the PeakSave initiative has paid over £20 million to more than 900,000 customers, rewarding those who use energy efficiently and support greener energy usage.
For more details on how to participate in tomorrow’s event, customers should check their emails for specific instructions and event times.
