Jannik Sinner normally prides himself on being cool, calm and collected on the tennis court.
And he has stressed the importance of giving nothing away to an opponent when in the heat of battle.
“Tennis is a very mental game,” the Italian explained during the French Open. “You try and not show anything to your opponent. I’m happy with how I handle situations.”
But the emotions of the occasion meant he couldn’t stick to his own guidelines on Sunday.
During his defeat in the final to Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner had a number of outbursts. Firstly, the Italian was seen berating his camp in the stands, before lashing out at his racket in consecutive games.
